I am a total newcomer to the Anime movement and attending Naka-Kon was a true experience in culture submersion.

The word you are looking for is Touhou, it does not mean a fan of a certine manga, rather Touhou Project is a seiries of indie bullet hell shoot ‘em up games like Gradius or Ikagura, except instead of spaceships and aliens, all the characters are little girls with magic powers.

A few things require clarification here.

Touhou Project (or just Touhou for short) is a shooter game series. Fans of this series are called a lot of things, but “Toho” isn’t one of them. Also, while there are numerous unofficial fan-made manga, video clips, songs and games based on Touhou Project, the series itself has nothing to do with any of these things, apart from those manga specifically written by ZUN, the game’s creator.

Also, “otaku” just means a really dedicated fan. It often applies to anime, manga, and video games, but fans of just about anything, from airsoft to trains, can be refered to as otaku.

A rave is in the most basic terms……a dance. It’s all techno usually with a hard baseline and many times involved people on acid or ecstacy. There is also lots of lasers and strobes going off throughout the night. They’re actually lots of fun and given the chance you should check one out.
