DALLAS International Film Festival: Day 0.5

The DALLAS International Film Festival launches this evening with multiple film screenings and a set of after parties any drunk would drool over. This year’s festival plans to feature over 150 film screenings and parties each evening celebrating everything awesome in this world—movies, celebrities, and debauchery. DIFF is an event I hold dear to my heart. Not only is it in my backyard, but I also cut my teeth in the film festival industry working for them their first three years. It’s a little strange to be on the press/audience side of it this year. However I’m not hiding my excitement about actually getting to take a breath and enjoy some movies. And the best thing, I don’t have that crazy exhausted look of someone who’s running on 3 hours of sleep for 6 days straight—I have to get my pleasures somewhere.

I’ll be updating throughout the festival—or at least in my head. Tonight is our first red carpet for the opening night films, including SKATELAND, WE THE POOR, A TOWN CALLED PANIC, MULTIPLE SARCASMS, and a block of short films. I’m really looking forward to SKATELAND, and I’ve heard great things about A TOWN CALLED PANIC. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see that one too this week.

Wish us luck! Pictures and stories from attendees are coming your way!
